FAFSA Information for Seniors

As the year comes to a close, and students begin winter break, we want to remind you to please fill out the FAFSA with your student. Seniors considering any type of continuing education must fill out the FAFSA so that schools are able to award your hard-working student scholarships and financial support. Here are some key points to consider in the FAFSA process:

  • The use of a parent/guardian social security number on the FAFSA is only used for the purpose of evaluating financial need for your student.
  • No financial decisions made by the student to take out a loan for continuing education or use of scholarship money will affect the parent/guardian directly.
  • Colleges have priority deadlines, so we encourage students to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.
  • The FAFSA must be completed by eligible students to receive funding with their College Bound Scholarship.

We have staff here at DHHS who are happy to help students through the FAFSA.  Students will need 2018 tax return information (for you and them, only if filed) and SSN number, along with your FSA ID information to complete their FAFSA.

If students prefer to complete the FAFSA at home, we have some links that you may find helpful.
