My life as a teacher began a long time ago, as a young kid chasing his dream of a life in music. I needed a job to afford an apartment with my bandmates and someone recommended I become a sub! The love of teaching and influencing young people started there. I put my chemistry degree to use (which doesn't always happen) and got my first job at a private school. After six years, it became evident to me that teaching was my jam and I enrolled at California State University San Bernardino to make it official with a credential. It was then that I entered the public school arena and got hired to teach chemistry at a rough Title I high school in the inner city. There I learned the importance of connecting with students before they will allow you to 'teach' them. I quickly moved up in the ranks at that school until we decided to move up to the PNW in 2017. We wanted to be surrounded by trees, clouds and water. I the next few more years following my youngest daughter and teaching at her schools. The last school was a very small, private, middle school in Post Falls and then this year I decided to look for a gig in the West Valley District. This is when I became aware of this unusually cool high school disguised as a Rite-Aid! :) This school has a great vibe! Aside from music (drums), I also picked up audio engineering skill that I think will be useful at DHHS. I love making/recording music and videos. I can't wait to meet all you students and my goal is to make it into each class by the end of the year!
