Allyson Fritz

Hello! I’m Allyson Fritz, School Social Worker at Dishman Hills High School. I’m excited to support students not only in their academic success, but in all of the things that help them feel connected, cared for, and ready to take on whatever comes next. I grew up in the Inland Northwest and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and French from Western Washington University and my Master’s in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley. Before moving back to Spokane in 2021, I spent more than seven years living and working in West Africa, mostly in Senegal and Niger, where I worked on programs focused on girls’ education and empowerment.

One of the phrases often quoted by my boss while I was working in West Africa was, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” It’s a phrase that has stuck with me. I used to feel like I needed to do things on my own and that needing help showed weakness. Over time, I’ve come to understand just how much we need each other as humans—and that asking for or offering help isn’t a weakness. I deeply value community, relationships, and supporting one another, and I’m grateful to now be part of the Dishman community. I can’t wait to go far together with all of you.

Outside of school, I’m usually spending time with my family, watching detective or lawyer shows, or working on some kind of craft. Well, actually, I’m probably napping. But after the nap, and if my toddler is otherwise occupied, I do enjoy crocheting, scrapbooking, and painting.
