Meet the Principal!

I am honored and excited to serve as the principal of Dishman Hills High School. I have spent more than 20 years in education as a school social worker, assistant principal, and principal. Before coming to Dishman Hills, I spent ten years as the principal of Three Springs High School in Cheney, an innovative, project-based high school. My background in school social work continues to shape the way I lead and, most importantly, the way I see students.

I genuinely love working with young people. They are creative, funny, complicated, surprising, and far more capable than they sometimes realize. I believe one of the greatest privileges we have as educators is helping students discover their strengths, find something they are passionate about, and begin to see possibilities for themselves that they may not have seen before.

I believe schools should be places where students are known, valued, challenged, and supported. There isn't one right path to success, and I love that Dishman Hills embraces different ways for students to learn and demonstrate what they know. I want students to have a voice in their learning, connect what they are doing in school to the world around them, take some risks, make some mistakes, laugh along the way, and know there are adults in their corner who believe in them. School is important work, but I also think it should be a place where we have some fun.

I am excited to work alongside the students, families, and staff of Dishman Hills and build on the great work already happening here. My hope is that every student who walks through our doors finds a place where they belong, discovers what they are capable of, and leaves us ready for whatever comes next.

Outside of school, I love to travel, read, and spend time with my children and granddaughters. I also spend many weekends supporting my husband and his competition BBQ team. This means I have learned far more about smokers, meat temperatures, and BBQ competitions than I ever expected to know, but the food isn't a bad perk!
